As the torrent you selected is downloaded, you can listen to an online radio station and you can search the web – you can do it all with the same application, FeyTorrents. Like a properly good torrent client, FeyTorrents will download the torrents you select and will do so rapidly. Unlike other torrent clients out there, the application provides easy access to numerous online radio stations. I am writing this while listening to music played by FeyTorrents as a matter of fact. Unlike other torrent clients, FeyTorrents lets you perform Google searches within the application (BitTorrent also lets you do this, but it launches your browser after you type in a query).

It will take little of your time to get FeyTorrents up and running. The installation file is 12.4MB in size, so on a high-speed connection, the download won’t take long to complete. Clicking through the simple setup wizard that’s displayed when you run the installation file will not take long either. Please note that you will be asked to choose the components you want to install (FeyTorrents core files, shell extensions, Start menu shortcuts) and you will be invited to pick between a Quick Installation and a Custom installation (this one lets you opt out of setting WebScout DB as your homepage and default search and opt out of installing the WebScout DB Toolbar). When the installation completes, your default browser will launch and you will be directed to the official FeyTorrents website.

On FeyTorrents’ interface, in the left hand side, you will notice several buttons: Getting Started, Library, FeyTorrents Radio, and Subscriptions. Click on Getting Started and you will see a search box for performing custom Google searches; all search results will be presented in FeyTorrents’ interface; click a result and it will be opened in your default web browser. Click Library to view the torrents you’re downloading, FeyTorrents Radio to view a selection of online radio stations, and Subscriptions to view your subscriptions, obviously. In the upper left hand corner you will see another search box and a traditional File Menu.

Using FeyTorrents to download torrents is a very simple task. You can drag and drop a torrent onto the application’s interface to start the download. If you set FeyTorrents as the default torrent client on your machine, you can simply double click a torrent file, FeyTorrents will launch, and the download will commence. If your browser of choice is Firefox, you can set it so torrent files are automatically opened with FeyTorrents. Last but not least, you can use the Ctrl + O keyboard shortcut to access the Open Torrent File dialog (you can also click File -> Open -> Torrent File).

After you open a torrent, it will be displayed in the Library section. You can use the buttons at the top to stop, start, or delete the torrent. You can right click the torrent to access more options related to said torrent. An interesting option is Show Download Bar. When you click on this option from the right click context menu, a floating bar shows up. The bar shows the torrent’s name, how much data has been downloaded, the download and upload speed, and how much time will take until the download completes.

While you’re waiting for the download to complete, you can listen to some music. In the FeyTorrents Radio section you will find a large selection of online radio stations, grouped by genre and location. There’s also a handy search function to help you search for radio stations.

You will not have to part with your money to enjoy the functionality FeyTorrents has to offer; the application is freeware.

By providing access to a multitude of online radio stations, FeyTorrents won me over. There are plenty of torrent clients out there to choose from. This extra bit of functionality put a big smile on my face.

Pros

The FeyTorrents interface is easy to figure out. Use the application to download torrents, to perform searches on Google, to listen to online radio stations. FeyTorrents is freeware.

Cons

Wants to install a toolbar and change your default homepage and search engine.
